Frequently Asked Questions
Is GYC supportive of the church?
GYC has been in existence for over 10 years. Since its inception it has built a valuable relationship with the administrators of our church. GYC has enjoyed having many church administrators speak at our conference - including the previous and current GC President. GYC has a role on the GC's Revival and Reformation Committee, was invited to participate in the last GC Youth Advisory Committee, and is an active member of the North American Division Youth Advisory Committee. GYC's President has also had the privilege of representing GYC as a delegate at our last General Conference Session in Atlanta.
Is GYC in Europe supported by the Austrian Union?
Yes. The Austrian Union has been fantastic to work with! On January 10, 2012, the Austrian Union Executive Committee voted to host GYC in Europe inside of Austria. We have enjoyed our time meeting with the President, Executive Secretary and newly appointed Youth Director. We appreciate the Godly leadership of the Austrian union and their commitment to support young people in living and fulfilling the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Has the leadership of GYC been in communication with the Trans European Division (TED) and Euro Africa Division (EUD) about GYC in Europe?
Yes. GYC leaders have been in communication with our church's Youth Administrators for over a year. This has included previous and ongoing communication with Youth Directors in both the TED and EUD.
Why was the location for GYC in Europe changed from Vienna to Linz, Austria?
With a desire to keep registration costs as low as possible for you as the attendee, our dedicated volunteer logistics team spent hours searching and negotiating for the best prices. In their quest, it became clear that Linz would be able to meet the needs of the conference more effectively and at a price 35% lower than Vienna.
Which city do I fly to?
Vienna or Linz, Austria, or Munich, Germany. From Vienna, a specially discounted train ticket can be procured to the Linz center by GYC Europe attendees. More details to come.
